Plane to Manchester diverted to Denmark after passenger fell ill and later died


A plane flying to Manchester Airport was diverted to Denmark after a passenger fell ill on board and later died.

According to reports the passenger was rushed to hospital in Copenhagen but died on route.

No further details have been revealed.

Reports in Pakistan suggest the passenger, a British national, had complained of chest pain during the flight.

Their family have been informed of the death.

The passenger’s name or age hasn’t been confirmed.

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad to Manchester Airport – flight PK-701 – left Pakistan on Saturday afternoon.

It was met by ambulances and a medical team after the captain made the decision to land at Copenhagen Airport.

The tragedy resulted in a delay of more than two hours before the plane, a Boeing 777, landed in Manchester on at 9.22pm on Saturday.

It was due to land at 7pm.
